Calling Herefordshire's Female Entrepreneurs
If you are female, living in Herefordshire, and looking to start up your own business, then come to the 3-day Opening Doors course, run by Women in Rural Enterprise (WiRE), at Ledbury, on 6th, 7th & 14th July.
WiRE are inviting females with an entrepreneurial spirit to join the course, which is funded by Business Link West Midlands. The course was delivered in the area last year, and there are still many female entrepreneurs interested in starting their own enterprise and finding our more about self employment.
"Each day of the course is packed with useful, practical advice and the chance to meet like-minded women at similar stages in their business ideas" Sarah Roberts, Business Development Manager at WiRE.
Naz Sanderson attended the last Opening Doors course and set up her own business, Red Hen Cookery Ltd in April 2010. It has grown rapidly in three months and already employs two additional chefs and a part-time assistant. Naz had worked in local government for 6 years and after having two children, decided to follow a different career path.
"I looked at my skills and most importantly, what I enjoyed. I have always loved cooking and decided to study for a qualification in nutrition and health. After lots of research Red Hen Cookery Ltd started in April 2010" states Naz.
"We provide cookery lessons for children and adults as well as educational workshops covering topics such as health and nutrition, where food comes from, after school cookery clubs and children's parties - we even teach teenagers the basics on our independent living courses" adds Naz
"The Opening Doors course was great and covered all aspects of starting a business. WiRE has a relaxed atmosphere and within a small group I had the opportunity to ask lots of questions. If you have the opportunity to attend the course before starting in business - do so".
