A new tourism newspaper has been launched by the county’s leading tourism body, Destination Staffordshire.

The annual publication, entitled Out and About, is designed to improve the provision of information for visitors on arrival in the county. The newspaper provides a detailed insight into the county’s attractions and events and helps visitors navigate around places of interest.

Around 100,000 copies have been produced and are available free of charge from a range of outlets including tourist information centres, libraries, tourist attractions, hotels, B&Bs, large supermarkets and some selected eating places around the county and further afield.

To support the 2010 campaign, Destination Staffordshire will also be launching a Great Outdoors section on their website www.enjoystaffordshire.com which will include a digital map highlighting walking, cycling and other outdoor pursuits, plus member businesses offering farm attractions.

A new consumer website for mobile devices, featuring the latest Enjoy Card offers, has already opened up a world of possibilities for tourists on the move.

Destination Staffordshire, the public/private sector partnership behind the initiatives, has developed the new visitor information and resource material to facilitate optimum visitor spend in Staffordshire. Tourism is one of the fastest growing businesses in the county, generating in excess of £902m per annum and employing almost 23,000 people.
