Fuel Efficiency Awareness Training & the E20 project - Herefordshire venue

Herefordshire Rural Hub - Thursday 8 Mar 2012 at 9.30

EFFICIENT 20 (E20) Project  is a European funded initiative to help famers reduce their fuel usage by 20%.
Herefordshire, Shropshire & Staffordshire Rural Hubs are working in partnership
with Ruralnet to deliver this project, which runs to April 2013.

To take part, you need to have a least one tractor that consumes at least 3,000 litres of fuel per year. The starting point to reducing your fuel usage is to know how much fuel you are using at present to perform a particular task.

Pilot group farmers are asked to measure fuel usage for their main activities
(e.g. harrowing, ploughing, spraying, transport) and then repeat the measurements
when using one of the fuel-savingtechniques. These “before” and “after” measurements could be performed on the same day to make the working conditions as similar as possible.

Not all tractors are able to show fuel consumption per hectare, so the project is able to supply fuel monitors compatible with the leading tractor brands or fuel gauges for farmyard storage tanks (subject to available funds).

In conjunction with this, a free training course is being offered:-

Fuel Efficiency Awareness Training
Thursday, March 8th, 9.30am - 4.00pm
at 7Y Services, Wharton Bank, Leominster, HR6 0NX

This course looks at all the factors influencing fuel consumption:-
  -  Driving Style
  -  Maintenance
  -  Tyre Pressures
  -  Ballasting for maximum efficiency
  -  Pre-operating checks
  -  Field size and efficient field work
