Funding available through the Northern Marches LEADER Local Action Group
The Northern Marches LEADER LAG has two streams of funding available in northern Shropshire and southern Cheshire.
One is for farming and forestry enterprises and covers:- adding value to farming and forestry products by improving processing and marketing; and to support co-operation for development of new products, processes and technologies.
Because the LAG operates across the county and regional boundary, there is a particular opportunity to support joint working between enterprises in Shropshire and Cheshire. A total of about £300,000 is available, and the LAG is particularly looking for applications requiring around £20,000 - £30,000 funding, representing up to 40% of total project cost.
Funding is also available for rural communities to improve access to basic services, assist village renewal and development, and to support conservation of rural heritage. A total of approximately £1m is available for these activities.
This funding is provided by EAFRD – Europe investing in rural areas – and DEFRA, through AWM and NWDA as part of the Rural Development Programme for England.
