Getting the most from wildlife seed mixes - Herefordshire venue

Herefordshire Rural Hub - Tuesday 30 Nov 2010 at 13.30

Natural England invites you to The Hill Farm, Castle Frome, Ledbury, where we will examine the merits of a range of environmental mixes, discuss their establishment and plan their agronomy.

Wild bird seed mixes, flower-rich grass margins, pollen and nectar plots are available in a number of guises as options under Environmental Stewardship. Each can play a major role in reducing the decline in farmland birds and boosting habitat for invertebrates including butterflies and bumblebees. Different mixes and management regimes have been established on this site, over the past 2 years.

As with all things agricultural, these plots do not manage themselves and to achieve maximum impact need ‘farming’. So join us to see how to get the best out of these options under Environmental Stewardship
