Grow Your Own success in Staffordshire!
Eco tourism company, Simply Staffordshire, based in Alton, Staffordshire, is building on the success of their Grow Your Own courses last year by adding more dates for Spring 2010. Mother and daughter team, Maggie and Emily are passionate about gardening, the Staffordshire countryside and food. Each Grow Your Own Day includes all tuition in Maggie’s organic garden, all materials, a delicious home cooked (and often home grown) lunch and cakes and potted seeds to take away as well as recipe cards to turn harvest into feast. The course is designed for beginners, those who want more successful harvests or those concerned they don’t have space. Each day will include some theory and some outdoor work and will give visitors confidence and inspiration to make the most of their green space.
Maggie has over 30 years experience in food growing in her garden and is a founder of North Staffordshire Organic Gardeners. Her enthusiasm is infectious and she has endless top tips to help the beginner in the vegetable plot.
Emily said “We had such a positive response last year that we are very excited to be offering Grow Your Own Courses again this year. They are the perfect way to learn new skills, enjoy Staffordshire and have some fun. It seems that now is the time to enjoy the chance to learn new skills and grow delicious food. Not only does it encourage getting outside and having a go it means great food for the table!”
Alternative quote idea A Willow Weaving Guest said, “We wanted to say how much we enjoyed the veg course we attended last week. In a relaxed and informal atmosphere we learned so much about planning and preparing our gardens and growing vegetables. We came away fired with enthusiasm and the confidence to 'have a go!"
