High output dairy unit reveals route to profitability at farm walk in Staffordshire
Dairy farmers are being invited to see a large scale dairy enterprise in action at a farm walk being organised by Harvey Hughes Limited and Dairy Co at Sandyford Farm, Swynnerton in Staffordshire on Thursday, February 3 .
Hosted by farmer Peter Kenny, the event will focus on the key management areas to profitable dairying such as feeding high yielding cows, effective use of forages and manures, dry cow management, fertility and breeding.
Specialist speakers from Harvey Hughes Limited, Dairy Co, GB Bulls, Kite and Shire Vets will be stationed around the farm to enable visitors to find out how a large farms runs efficiently to produce a healthy return even under the challenging circumstances of low milk price and high input costs.
Last year the team visited a smaller farm in Cheshire and now they are focussing on the high input high output route to profitable milk production.
