Join the Shropshire Rural Hub Soils Group
3rd March 2010 from 7pm -9pm
at
The Wingfield Arms,
Montford Bridge, Shrewsbury, SY4 1EB
Soils are very much on the mind of our Hub Members at present, not surprising perhaps given some of the unusual and difficult conditions we have had in recent years.
With this in mind we would like to bring together a Shropshire Rural Hub Soils Group. The Group is very much for Members with the discussion topics and activities determined by those attending. Its purpose will be twofold:-
To allow Hub Members to discuss their soils issues and learn from one another;
To attract key speakers who can provide practical information to help you to manage your key resource, soil.
Group meetings will begin on 3rd March 2010, and we are delighted to announce that a national soils expert has been persuaded to speak at the first meeting; Agronomist Simon Draper from the Eastern Counties will cover:
- soil types
- soil structure
- the do’s & don’ts for managing soil effectively
- how to get a bigger yield
- the new Soil Protection Review - how to identify, remedy & record
This will be followed by an on-farm practical event to put into practice what you have learnt. This takes place on 12th March 2010 from 10.30am – 3.30pm at Hall Farm, Cruckmeole, Hanwood.
Places are limited and will be on a first come first served basis.
If you would like to attend either event or be part of theSoils Group, please email the Hub office at shropsruralhub@wnsc.ac.uk or call us on 01939 262106.
