Lantra Landskills
LandSkills West Midlands, managed by Lantra on behalf of Advantage West Midlands, is part of the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE), which is funded by Defra and The European Fund for Rural Development.
LandSkills West Midlands aims to develop the business skills of the region’s agricultural, horticultural and forestry industries.
The programme, which is managed by Lantra, the Sector Skills Council for the environmental and land-based industries, delivers a range of subsidised skills and knowledge transfer activity which is aimed at the following industries:
- Forestry
- Livestock – beef, sheep, dairy, pigs and poultry
- Arable and non-food crops
- Production Horticulture
- Processing of primary agriculture and forestry products
A Steering Group will oversee the programme with a membership that includes businesses working in the industries who will benefit from the training, trade associations and also regional agencies. The Assessment Panel is a sub group of the Steering Group that will scrutinise applications and make the final decisions. Members on Assessment Panels will be agreed by the Steering Group and vary according to the industries from which applications are received.
Advantage West Midlands is responsible for the delivery of the socio-economic elements of the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) in the West Midlands region.
The programme, which is jointly funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the UK Government, will enable Advantage West Midlands to deliver around £5.5 million of investment to our region.
RDPE investment will be available for farmers and rural entrepreneurs to support the start up of new businesses and the growth of existing enterprises. The fund will also support skills development in agriculture and forestry, and help communities to make the most of their local heritage and cultural assets.
