“Green Breakfast & Farm Walk”
Natural England is hosting a “Green Breakfast” on the 1st July 2010 followed by a farm walk around one of the best arable and wet grassland Environmental Stewardship schemes in Warwickshire.
The event will provide agents, contractors and advisors with an update on the following topics:
- West Midlands Regional ELS / HLS budget;
- What’s happening with renewals, amendments and new agreements;
- Introduction to UELS;
- Campaign for the Farmed Environment;
- And information on the Simplified FEP.

The event will start at 8.15am with a full English breakfast; with presentations following (we aim to finish the presentations by 11.30). There will be an optional guided tour of Toft Farm. A predominately arable farm extending to 358ha (winter wheat, oats and spring beans), with an exemplar ELS/HLS scheme with extensive wetland areas for farmland birds, fallow plots for lapwings, wild bird cover; pollen and nectar mixes; rough grazing for barn owls and brown hares and beetle banks. Cattle and sheep have also been re-introduced to the holding after 40 years of arable production. The walk will cover Environmental Stewardship Scheme options and management.
The event will conclude with soup and a roll. We aim to finish by 13.30.
