Natural England Farmland Birds Event - Getting the best out of wildlife seed mixes

Shropshire Rural Hub - Thursday 19 Nov 2009 at 14.30

For Non Agreement Holders

19th November 2009
2.30 - 4.30pm

Caynton House, Caynton, Newport, Shropshire, TF10 8NE
By kind permission of Mr Neil Furniss

Wild bird seed mixes, herb-rich grass margins and pollen and nectar plots are available in a number of guises as arable options under Environmental Stewardship. Each can play a major role in reducing the decline in farmland birds and boosting habitat for invertebrates including butterflies and bumblebees. When successful, these plots provide both the
needs of wildlife, more particularly farmland birds and a guaranteed level of income over the period of agreement. Come along and see how to get the best out of these options and see how they fit into the farming system at Caynton Hall.
