Rural Enterprise Grant Scheme (REG)

This is a capital grants programme funded under the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) and is available to farmers and specific rural micro-businesses in the West Midlands region. The Rural Enterprise Grant (REG) can fund small scale diversification and business development projects for the benefit of rural businesses.

Applications can be for 40% of eligible costs up to a maximum grant of £62,500. The remaining 60% must be from the private sector

The grant is being administered by Herefordshire Council

Who can apply?
• Farmers
• Members of farming households
• More than 50% of income from agriculture
• Holding number anywhere in the West Midlands Region

Who can apply?
• Micro enterprises i.e. less than 10 fte and turnover of less than €2m
• Herefordshire – whole county apart from City wards
• Shropshire – whole county apart from Shrewsbury wards
• Telford & Wrekin – rural wards
• Warwickshire and Staffordshire – RBG area
• Worcestershire – rural wards

 Wood fuel harvesting and processing (known as the Woodland Enterprise Grant*)
 Animal Health and Welfare linked to Farm Improvement Plans ( known as the West Midlands Farm Health Planning Initiative *)
