Sheepdog Handler Training Course - January 2012
Walford & North Shropshire College Sheepdog Handler Training Course
Commencing Monday 9th January 2012
This course will consist of six half day sessions, done on a one to one and interactive basis.
The sessions will be delivered weekly on a Monday Afternoon, by Paul Tompkins at
Griffin Lloyd Farm Llangullo nr Knighton, Powys, LD7 1SH.
All beneficiaries will receive a copy of the International Sheep Dog Society’s “Training a Sheep dog, A Guide for the New Handler” booklet. The booklet has been designed to support the practical training course and includes all the basic tasks that are required, for the management of a flock of sheep.
Some of the topics included in the course are:-
• Commands
• The Return
• Gathering sheep
• Flanking
• Circling the sheep
• The Drive and shedding.
The total cost is £71.10 per person. Places are limited so bookings will be on a first come first served basis.
