The Countryside Comes to Shrewsbury Town Centre

Shropshire Rural Hub - Saturday 17 Jul 2010 at 10.00

The countryside comes to Shrewsbury town centre at 10am on Saturday 17th July 2010.  Countryside campaigners from across Shropshire will set up stall in The Square to promote the rural way of life.

Bee keepers, falconers, a farrier, ferreters, ice cream makers, cake bakers to name but a few, will all be there with the tools and animals of their trades.

This will be the eighth Countryside to Town event in Shrewsbury and Clare Rowson, the organiser, is expecting a positive response as local people come to show their support and solidarity for the rural community.

Stand space will be available at £35.00 per table and a 10% donation from any profitable income.

Clare Rowson, spokesperson for the Countryside Alliance Foundation said: “We welcome this opportunity to promote and raise awareness of the enormous economic, social and environmental contribution that rural trades make to the countryside.

“We are here to answer questions about the countryside and rural communities from people who might not usually have the opportunity to ask them and to explain how our way of life creates and conserves the countryside we all love.”

The day will go some way to help educate the public in subjects relating to the conservation, protection and enjoyment of the countryside.
