VAT Online Services Event - free help
HMRC is phasing out paper VAT returns. This means you must file your VAT returns online; if you don’t, you may ultimately incur a penalty. You must also pay any VAT due electronically.
Businesses with an annual (VAT exclusive) turnover of £100,000 or more, and all newly VAT registered businesses, have been required to file online since 1 April 2010. And, inline with the recommendations in the Carter Report, HMRC are working on the basis that businesses with turnover under £100,000 will need to start filing online by 1 April 2012 at the latest.
You need to sign up for the VAT Online service in order to file your return online. If you haven’t already done so, you need to act now. Don’t worry – it isn’t difficult to do, and there is lots of help and support available. To get you started you can view the online ‘Beginners Guide to using the VAT Online service’ at www.hmrc.gov.uk/vat/sign-up-for-online.pdf .
However, if you would prefer face to face support, HMRC is offering a free event where they will show you:
• how to sign up for the VAT Online service
• how to file your VAT return online
• the benefits of using our Online Services
For more information why not call into the event below
An event is to be organised for September/ October 2010.
