YFC LOOKS FORWARD TO “JUNGLE FEVER” AT THE COUNTY SHOW

Published on Monday 4 Apr 2011 by Staffordshire Rural Hub

On Tuesday 31st May Staffordshire Young Farmers Clubs will start the County Show by hosting their annual Pre-Show Reception, which includes their YFC’s Got Talent competition where several members will be measuring their entertainment skills in front of an audience of invited guests and judges. The Clubs will have been busy doing their individual Club Displays, which are also judged on this evening. There will be a presentation to members who are travelling abroad this year on the NFYFC Discovery Programme. We have members who have successfully gained trips to Germany, Scotland, Uganda, Kenya and Sweden this summer. The evening is rounded off by a buffet very kindly sponsored by Knights Solicitors and Savills llp.

Our keenly fought annual Tug of War competition will be held on Wednesday, 1st June at 7.30pm in the Main Ring of the County Showground. All the teams are training for this in between busily designing, constructing and painting their Show Floats for their annual trip around the Main Ring at the County Show on Thursday, 2nd June in the afternoon. This year’s theme is ‘TV Adverts”, which should make for some interesting and well presented trailers!

The theme inside this year’s marquee is “Jungle” so do beware of stray monkeys, lions and tigers, in the form of some of our lively members, as you enter the area at your own risk! The members will be welcoming past, present and potential new members to the marquee, where you can see our Club Displays, have a go at guessing how many balloons are in the loadall, take a trip on our Jungle Hunt Quiz to win 2 tickets for Alton Towers, or buy tickets for one of our Summer Social events.

To round off the County Show there will be our County Show Dance on Friday, 3rd June, by kind permission of the Hooley family at Bishton Farm, Wolseley Bridges with Custom Sounds Disco. Tickets in advance over the show £5 and on the door £8.

The summer continues with a Midsummer Madness Disco on Friday, 11th June with the theme ‘ABC (Anything But Clothes) by kind permission of the Stubbs Family, Butterhill Farm, Coppenhall. Admission is £5 for members and £8 for non-members.

The biggest social event then follows with the not to be missed jungle fever continues to hit YFC with our ‘Jungle’ themed Summer Ball –on Saturday 9th July by kind permission of Atkins Farms, Brookfield Farm, Field with live music, disco, bouncy castle and BBQ. Tickets will be available at the County Show marquee £16 for members and £20 for non members in advance.
